Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
